3 songs from Sonny: Time is a Tempest, All Mixed Up, Tikkun Olam

I like the songs Sonny Ochs plays on her show. Last week, some good ones she played were:
  • "All Mixed Up," performed by Pete Seeger, from the album Live in '65. There's a version available on youtube. I've heard the Peter, Paul and Mary version before, but somehow, in this version, the lyrics popped out at me, in particular, the part that goes

No race of man is completely pure,
nor is anyone's mind, that's for sure
The winds mix the dust of every land,
and so will woman and man.
This doesn't mean we will all be the same,
We'll have different faces and different names
Long live many different kinds of races
It's difference of opinion that makes horse races
Just remember the rule about rules, brother
What could be right for one could be wrong for the other
The full lyrics can be found at http://www.peteseeger.net/allmixedup.htm.

  • "Time is a Tempest," performed by Cloudstreet. Cloudstreet is the Australian duo Nicole Murray and John Thompson. The lyrics can be found at http://www.cloudstreet.org/lyrics_danceup.htm#tempest. It's one of those uplifting songs about let's all join together and change the world.

  • "Tikkun Olam, Repair the World" performed by Ellen Bukstel. This song can be heard on youtube and the lyrics can be viewed at http://www.bukstel.com/TikkunOlamlyrics.htm. Like "Time is a Tempest," it's a song about joining together to make the world a better place.
